Over the last week, I have been catching up with some local businesses. On Thursday evening, I visited Esher Business Guild to talk about government policies to help small businesses, including reducing red tape and the business rates review. We also talked about the current mix of businesses on Esher’s High Street, and how we could encourage a stronger local business identity. There were some very interesting ideas, and it was great to see so many local entrepreneurs there.
Then on Friday, I went along to Hersham Village Market to meet with market organiser Margaret Denham (pictured above) and see the local fare. The Market is run as a mutual, and only hosts local producers, who sell everything from knitwear to allotment-grown veg. It was great to see so many local producers contributing to the community in this way. If you’re interested in visiting, Hersham Village Market runs every Friday, 10.30am-12noon in Hersham Village Hall, and more information can be found on their website, here.
