Last Friday, I visited Carer Support Elmbridge, a local charity based in Walton that supports unpaid carers who look after their loved ones. I met development worker Jenny Pearman, support and advocacy worker Yvonne Clarke, and the Chair of Trustees, Christine Hayden (pictured with me above).
Carer Support Elmbridge undertake incredibly important work to support carers by helping practically with advocacy, emotional support, and assistance with complex benefit applications. They also help to take the pressure off by organising social support groups, and providing respite and training events.
Jenny and Yvonne explained how carers hold families together, enabling loved ones to get the most out of life. Carers make an enormous contribution to society, and I have huge admiration and respect for their dedication and for those who support them. I was very grateful to Jenny, Yvonne, Christine and Carer Support Elmbridge for taking the time to talk to me about their work, and wish the charity every success in the future.
