Yesterday, I secured a Westminster Hall Debate to raise the local impact in Elmbridge of the proposed expansion of Heathrow with Transport Minister Andrew Jones. I used this opportunity to raise the concerns of constituents, particularly those in Moseley and Walton-on-Thames who are especially concerned about the current operations and the implications of a third runway, particularly for noise levels and air quality.
I support the expansion in principle because I recognise its importance for the future competitiveness of the UK economy.
However, I want to nail down local guarantees on noise and air quality. I set out detailed concerns and questions, and the Minister agreed to work through them all with me over the months ahead.
