Last week, I met with Wendy Smithers, who runs a Community Interest Company (CIC) called ‘It’s Not Your Birthday But’ (INYBB). INYBB is a pilot initiative based in Elmbridge aiming to get more of us writing, reading and sending letters and postcards. In particular, it works to connect the most isolated and vulnerable people in society, including veterans, serving military personnel and the elderly. Wendy and her team also run events and visit schools, hospitals and care homes.
INYBB is applying to the 2017 LIBOR Grant Funding scheme to enable expansion of its work with the most vulnerable people in Elmbridge, including partnerships with Princess Alice Hospice and Emberbrook Care Home – and I have offered to give their application my backing as their local MP. INYBB is also hoping to continue its great work with military personnel and their families.
