On Saturday, I joined Cobham Heritage Day in the morning. With Simon Lewis and Jackie Lodge, I manned a stall advertising the Elmbridge Community Fund (ECF) – inviting people to score a goal to win a football. We were delighted that the High Sheriff of Surrey Robert Napier came and tried his luck, along with some residents (pictured below). The proceeds will go through the ECF to support local groups helping those in need in our communities.
At lunchtime, I then whizzed over to Walton Heritage Day, which Joanna Gordon and her brilliant team at Walton-on-Thames Trading Alliance organised. There was face painting, hog roast, singing from local pupils, charitable groups like the inspirational Elmbridge Community Link (pictured below) – and a Conservative Party stand doing a brisk trade!
These Heritage Days are great community occasions, an opportunity to showcase our civic spirit and take pride in the amazing local businesses, charities and groups that give our towns and villages such a strong sense of identity and pride.
