Today I gave a speech at the Policy Exchange think-tank on the release of law firm Linklaters’ new report “Everyone has a Part to Play: Improving the UK’s Competitiveness post-Brexit by Enhancing the Rule of Law”.
I thanked Linklaters for their work on the report, which examines the opportunities of Brexit for the legal sector. I also talked through the government’s approach to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill, the UK approach to civil and judicial cooperation in the Brexit negotiations, and the opportunities to promote UK legal services globally.
After the speech I took part in a panel discussion chaired by Sky News’ Ian King, with Sir Stephen Laws KCB QC, the former First Parliamentary Counsel, Jasmine Whitbread, the CEO of business group London First, and Richard Godden, a Partner with Linklaters (the firm I trained with).
My full speech can be found here.
